The Importance of a Healthy Prosperity Consciousness

'The more people you help, the richer you become mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and definitely financially.'  T Harv Ecker

One of the greatest challenges facing holistic practitioners or anyone on a spiritual path is how to integrate or align their personal and spiritual values with the material standards of society. All holistic people really want to do is lovingly serve and help people.

Inherently they trust that if they are following their life’s path and helping others, the universe will provide for them. They believe if they are doing the right thing, they will be rewarded. Relying on the principle of "like attracts like", they also believe those who need help will somehow find them.

Unfortunately, this idealistic approach often leads spiritual individuals to become disillusioned and disappointed when clients are not beating a path to their door. They begin to question whether they are actually on the right path. They are forced to maintain a traditional day job to make ends meet, and silently wish they could do what they really want to do.

Why can’t these talented and very skilled people make a living at what they love? It isn’t that their products and are not needed. It isn’t that their service isn’t valuable. It isn’t that they aren’t exceptionally skilled. They just can’t see that like is attracting like.

It is easy to make excuses and justify or blame when you are not succeeding. But, the truth is, there are really only four reasons why a qualified person is not successful in their own business.

  1. No experience, training, or skill in running a business
  2. Lack of commitment, ambition and purpose
  3. Not promoting themselves properly, comsistantly or sufficiently
  4. A personal value system that is sabotaging them

Values are a combination of individual morals, ethics and standards. Our values help us determine what we want and how to go about getting it. Practical values are essentially the foundation for success or lack of it.

To make a living at what you love, the real key is to assess what you truly desire as re-embursement. What do you value? Is it appreciation, praise, recognition, happiness? Or is it money. You will be rewarded with what you value the most.

Many people who suffer from financial restrictions, have values that focus on spiritual or esoteric concepts. Unconsciously they prefer to feel good about themselves spiritually, rather than materially. They may even resent people who are rich or successful, or resent health practitioners who are successful.

But, if you view rich or successful people as bad in any way, and you want to be a 'good' person, your unconscious mind won't ever allow you to be rich or successful.

The universe does not care how much you have or how much you get--only the PATTERN that you create.

So ... change your pattern.

You probably are not consciously aware of your value system and how it affects your material success. To determine your values, answer this question....

What is most important to you when you give of yourself or perform your holistic service? What do you most want in return?

Write a list, in order of importance, of all the things you need to feel motivated to perform your healing work......Do you need to feel that you have truly helped someone?...To make a difference in the world?...To feel good about yourself?...To be rewarded spiritually?...To be needed?...To be appreciated or respected?...To learn or grow?...

We all receive something we personally value when we give. This natural exchange is a law of the universe. A vacuum is created by giving something away. Therefore, something must refill it.

What is at the top of your list? What do you most value? Most spiritual people will say that they most want to help someone, or that they need to feel good about themselves spiritually. Is this what you are currently receiving as a reward for your service? Then you are being paid! Your payment is simply intangible. You may, therefore, have not recognized the payment or its value to you.

Where does money fall on your list? Is it near the bottom? If money is not at the top of your list, it is not a priority for you. Would your husband (or wife) or friend stick around if they weren't important to you and you did not put constant attention on them?  No!  Well, money is no different!  If money is not your goal or part of your focus, money will not be your reward. Although you might be performing a necessary and very welcome service, you will not earn money at it.

Instead you will receive the "feel good" rewards you value more. You will attract those people who need your help, but do not have the resources to pay for it.

Like does attract like....Do you see that you are attracting people of similar consciousness? These people are fulfilling your most valued needs, just as you are helping them.  Your poverty consciousness is attracting others with a similar poverty consciousness.  Therefore, they cannot afford to pay you.

Now answer the question again, focusing on what you need to receive from your regular day job. What motivates you to work at this job? Did your list change? Did you discover that you perceive your spiritual work from a more idealistic perspective than other aspects of your life?

SUCCESS TIP:  Re-aligning your values is the first step toward creating a proper foundation that will lead to success. That does not mean you have to compromise or abandon your current values. But, why can’t you make money tangible evidence or proof that you are helping people...making a difference in the world...are performing a valuable service...are needed, appreciated and respected...?

Money is simply paper until it is exchanged for something we value. It is not money itself that we value. It is what money can provide that we value. Consider this...."Money is tangible evidence that I am helping others." "Money is tangible evidence that I am needed and appreciated." Do these affirmations make you feel different about receiving money?

This perspective allows money to make its way to the top of your value hierarchy without displacing any of your most important values. Money becomes a by-product of your goal, rather than the goal itself. It acts as a barometer or watermark to monitor how effectively you are achieving your values and goals. In this context, money gives your values greater meaning and impact.

The universe is infinitely abundant. To be truly spiritual is to be one with all that abundance, to expand and share your joy and your own abundance, and to acknowledge and continually appreciate that abundance by living with an attitude of gratitude.  If you want to reflect true spirituality in your daily life, you must acknowledge and reflect the abundance of the universe that is everywhere. There is no negativity in abundance that is honourably gained and honourably used.

Can you adjust your ideals to include money as part of your reward? If you do not deeply value and honour who you are and what you do, no one else will. What are you worth? ~~
