Career Bigamy

Are you Committing Career Bigamy?

Do you work at another job to support yourself, possibly even doing something you dislike, just to earn a living? You probably don’t believe you can support yourself as an holistic practitioner or by doing what you love.

You are committing career bigamy! ... cheating on your true love and passion--Alternative Health in a compromise for safety.

Are you a 'closet professional', too?  Do you tell friends, family, co-workers, and everyone you meet that you are a qualified Alternative Health professional?  Are you an ambassador for Complementary and alternative Medicine, or do you hide your interest in Alternative Health, too afraid or embarrassed to speak up?

How can you expect anyone to really believe in the merits of Alternative Health or trust your skills and expertise if YOU don't? How will ever learn to swim if you try to keep one foot on the shore!

Perhaps you believe you are mature, serious, and responsible individual. You are committed to your children, your spouse, your family. You have a multitude of responsibilities that use up all your free time and prevent you pursuing a full-time career in Alternative Health

Work, home, family fills up our lives with busy-ness. It fosters a sense of contribution and meaning that can often temporarily assuage the feeling that we have more to do. Mundane responsibility can act as a clever substitute, a wonderful excuse to avoid your soul’s real mission. After all, the best way to avoid responsibility is to say "I’ve got responsibilities."

When do you begin to make a commitment to yourself, to your soul’s longing, to your own personal growth and fulfillment? To become a successful professional you have to make a serious commitment to something larger than yourself. You must truly believe in what you do and the positve impact it will have on others.

Humility is the ideal excuse. We can make ourselves believe we don’t have any contribution to make. It’s easy. It is safe.

When you make a commitment, you create intent. Intent is an energy. It creates direction. The forces of the universe begin to work with you to support your intent. Direction is movement. Movement is action. Action is a dynamic force that creates a result.

Fear is an instinctive response that has evolved into our most primal being. Fear ensures survival.  But, the problem with fear is that it becomes habitual.

Fear is the one overwhelming factor that can paralyze you from taking action. It comes in anticipation of pain, a debilitating "What if?" Yet, in almost every instance, fear is unfounded. (False Evidence Appearing Real)

The key is not to ignore fear, but to act in spite of it. Do not wait for fear to subside before taking action. Simply acknowledge its presence, thank your mind for sharing its need to protect you, and move forward anyway.

Pay attention to the true source or reason for your fear. Are you moving into a new experience? Are you afraid of success? Are you afraid of failing? Are you afraid of change? Are you afraid of moving out of your comfort zone? Are you afraid of what other people might think? Is the fear originating from your intuition?

Identify the actual concern, and most often the fear will immediately begin to dissipate. Then you can use your rational mind to dismantle the remaining fear.

The biggest rewards come to those who act in spite of their fears. Self-esteem increases. You feel powerful and in charge of your life. You grow. You learn a lot about yourself. You have a new experience. You expand your horizons. You empower others. Best of all, you succeed!
