Just because you have an office in your home doesn't mean you need to hide as though you are doing something illegal or wrong. Sadly, that's what most home-office Alternative Health professionals do! They try to stay invisible.
But, how does that help you build a thriving business? How does that help you feel confident and really proud of what you do?
Here are some critical items you need for your home business if you want to attract clients and keep them coming back. They're inexpensive and easy to do.
1) Sign. Yes, you can place a sign in front of your home! By-laws specify that a home sign can be no larger than 1' square. A sign this size does not require a permit. Hang your sign in a window, above your mailbox, or from a wooden or wrought iron post near the sidewalk. Make sure it is clearly visible from the street & looks attractive and professional. Draw attention to your sign by placing colourful flowers to 'anchor' or accent it. Direct a spotlight on it at night.
2) Your home's facade is your 'business face'. Make certain it is clean, nicely painted, and in good repair. Pick up garbage and keep the lawn mowed neatly. The sidewalk should be wide and unobstructed. If possible the sidewalk should make a path from the street to your door. Plant colourful flowers to welcome guests. At the door, add a mat that says 'welcome'. Keep the entry well-lit. Place a spotlight on your entry. This 'lights up' your career.
3) Place a magnetic sign on your car and park it in the driveway. Keep it simple--your business name and website address, or your business name and telephone number. You don't need a permit for a vehicle sign, and it turns your car into a 100% tax deduction because it has become an advertising media for your business. The cost is from $60-$75 per sign & can be prdered from most sign shops.
4) Get a second line on your telephone. It only costs about $6 per month, and gives a distinctive ring that is different from your home line. This lets you know when someone is calling your business, so you can answer appropriately & keep family members from accidently picking up your business calls.
5) Make certain your answering machine message is professional and promotes your services. Your answering machine should be an advertising medium, NOT your receptionist. You'll find the ideal telephone message script here on our website. Once you've created your message, call yourself and listen. Does you message really reflect who you are and what you do?
6) Wear a lab coat or medical uniform when serving clients. It will make you appear more professional and skilled. It also serves to focus your attention on business.
Each of these elements is an action that releases energy or intent. This helps to fuel the Law of Attraction and re-enforce in your own mind that you really are a professional, even though you only have a part-time home office.
